Our Trustee, Andrew, was delighted to deliver the Key Note Lecture in Swindon today. Joining a series of excellent speakers, Andrew’s lecture reminded everyone of the seven steps necessary to better protect children and young people, both in the UK and abroad.
A key theme that emerged from the presentations today was the importance of learning from global health initiatives and ensuring that any interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people are community-focussed and locally-led.
Andrew’s seven key points:
- Improve education
- Increase employment
- Tackle poverty
- Decrease neglect
- Recognise your role as a community leader
- Empower children and young people
- Build ChildSafe* communities with children and young people at their hearts
